Biography

Megan Lavey has been a print reporter and designer for more than a decade.

Her most recent position was as a designer for the Arizona Daily Star. Prior to that, she was a designer for the Sun Journal, features writer for the Bristol Herald Courier and copy editor for the Selma Times-Journal. She has won several Awards of Excellence from the Society of News Design, and was honored by the Alabama Associated Press in 2003 for feature writing. She has done critiquing work for VisualEditors.com and CollegeFrontPage.com.

Lavey, 28, is a 2002 graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.A. in Communication and Information Sciences. While at Alabama, she spent four years on staff at The Crimson White, culminating in news director her senior year and winning numerous awards for college journalism. She was also a member of the Million Dollar Band.

Lavey currently resides in Tucson, Arizona. When she is not writing or designing, she is an active member of the Society of Creative Anachronism, a voracious reader, tries to convert people to the fantasy series Slayers and Doctor Who, professional cat-wrangler, and engages in whatever crafts catch her eye.
